Acidity / GERD (Heartburn)

Information and suggested lab tests.

What it is

GERD is reflux of stomach acid causing heartburn and regurgitation. Labs may be used in selected cases to check anemia or H. pylori.

Diagnosis and tests

Many cases are diagnosed clinically. If symptoms persist, your clinician may advise CBC (anemia) or H. pylori testing based on your history.

Treatment and management

Smaller meals, avoid late-night heavy food, and clinician-guided medicines can help. Seek urgent care for black stools, vomiting blood, or severe chest pain.

This is general information and does not replace medical advice. For diagnosis or treatment decisions, consult a qualified clinician.
